Three Ideas for Short StoriesRetelling of "The Wanderer" - exiled warrior coming to terms with issues of loyalty and faith
Superhero story - sort of a serious 'The Tick' a superhero (standard sub-superman, sort of Shazam kind of superhero) deals with very real, very banal issues. The crux of the story is would be about taking the Road Less Travelled - making choices that lead to action instead of choices that lead to stability.
Space Operaesque smuggler's run - standard fare, smuggler in a ship circumventing a planetary embargo. Conflict would be man vs. machine, man vs. society, and man vs. man. The story should take the character from Roguish Hero to Villain back to Hero as a demonstration of how the whole idea of 'hero' is really up for grabs.
