2/22/2002 Today's Baby Steps
Yesterday I said I would write 600 words, accomplish stuff at work, and finish my Ghastly Humour thing. What I got done was stuff at work and developed the Ghastly Humour bit to a point that I need to write some cgi code to make it work. I didn't write at all, but I did brainstorm. Admittedly I was a bit distracted because my girlfriend bought me Black and White for my birthday and I was having difficulties installing it on my old computer. Today, I will finish all the open tasks for Member Services, begin the coding for the cgi script for Ghastly Humour, and develop three ideas for a short story and one idea for a magazine article. I will also have outlined one of these four ideas. The Chicago Reader did a story on ImprovOlympic, the theater I go to all the time that holds Improv classes. ImprovOlympic is where Upright Citizens Brigade came from, Tim Meadows, Chris Farley, Mike Meyers, Andy Dick, and a slew of others. The classes are kind of expensive, but their focus on scene building has me convinced that it would help me in my writing. Also, the being on stage and working with others would help my people skills. But do I really want to commit myself to 8 weeks of classes? Hmmm. We'll see.
