I know, you were expecting some diatribe on Valentine's Day, you'll have to wait until tomorrow and read it in Ariadne's Thread. It is my yearly salute as to why I think Valentine's Day is the most evil of all the 'holidays'. Nope, this is about The Sims. I am two friends away from being at the top of my career ladder. I've spent the past three (or has it been 4) days playing. Awhile back I had purchased the Livin' Large and House Party expansion packs but couldn't get them installed (my cd-rom refuses to recognize them 4 times out of 5). Therese was able to install them which gave us the benefit of both being able to play at the same time. Last Saturday we broke down and bought an external cd-burner for both of us as a Valentine's Day present (I know, doesn't the romance of it kill you?). Therese also bought Hot Date. By using the new cd-rom I was able to install and consistently play The Sims. This of course has led me to explore the expansion packs. Which means staying up late at night typing in cheat codes to get more money to build the perfect neighborhood club so I can have kick ass parties. I've always been more interested in the design element than the living element, which has me attempting to create my own furniture and the like. I'm starting off simple, with posters, wall paper, and floor tiles. My first BIG project will probably be a lamp (the tutorial uses a lamp as its example). But I hope to work up to furnishings, windows, doors, and finally New Object Creation - if all goes well. Otherwise, I will live with custom wallpaper and floor tiles.
