4/24/2002 Back At It
I hate coming back to work after having time off. I never seem to have enough time away to do everything I wanted. I ended up staying up all night on Monday, which was not good. I expected to be tired, I didn't expect the horrible heart burn and indigestion. Now my eye is twitching uncontrollably for no reason. I also look like I've been hit in the face with a shovel. God, I'm old. I didn't get out of the house yesterday as I spent the morning on the phone with SBC/Ameritech trying to determine why my DSL wasn't working. I couldn't connect to anything, yet MSN Messenger and AOL AIM were working, which allowed me a chance to talk to my friend Ken in D.C. who helped diagnose the problem as a down DNS server. I tried to change from the Ameritech DNS servers in my router, but ended up losing contact with the router in the process. I figured I was a bit in over my head and took a nap. I woke up, it was still before noon, so I ate my big breakfast and started gathering all my cd's I wanted to create my mix cd 'Songs for a Hero'. For the rest of the day I was ripping and burning, doing Kazaalite searches for select songs (Blade theme, Dual of Fates, Backdraft theme, etc.), and learning more about the the application I was using to do the ripping and burning - SonicStage. Damn, this is a great program. Therese called in sick today, which I don't blame her. She woke with a migraine. Yesterday she was stuck in her car going to work for 90 minutes in one of the world's shittiest commutes. All the roads are being repaired/resurfaced along her route to work. While I know I should go right home, I didn't get a chance to go to the comic book store and I have some extra money burning a hole in my pocket -- so, I may make a quick stop. I'll call her and ask if she wants me to pick up something for dinner. I wasn't that hungry last night and she ended up cooking - despite having a bad day and feeling miserable. The major plus side is I have lost 10 pounds. I don't feel or look different but psychologically it is good. I like being in control of my body. I've been bad at updating fitday.com but I've kept up the walking the schedule, supplementing it whenever possible by walking on my lunch hour.
