4/12/2002 Let's Talk Taxes
Okay, I finished my taxes and luckily only owe the state $2 and will be getting a chunk back from the Feds (this is without doing the student loan interest thing - too much extra work). So that makes me feel better because I really thought I was going to owe owe owe.Of course, I'm the kind of person who looks at things in a long run sort of way. I was perfectly content WITHOUT this money they are sending me, which means I really didn't need it. Which means, maybe, the tax cut was truly unnecessary. I'm a hypocrit, of course, because I'm going to take that money and buy stock with it, get a new cd player, and set some aside to help pay for a trip home this summer. I fear getting auditted though. I make money on the side that is unreported. Last year I did a mock up of a tax form that included that income and realized it wasn't enough to change the refund. But I still worry about it. My financial records are a mess. I don't even know if I have a copy of last year's return. Why don't they teach these kind of skills in high school?
