4/9/2002 Grossed Out
I got grossed out by my body yesterday. I can't really detail what about it. It was seeing the mound under my chin I think. I hadn't weighed myself in a long time, but I did it yesterday. 199 pounds. Okay, time to start doing something, I told myself. I need a realistic exercise schedule. I ain't no runner. I ain't no body builder. I'm too much of a cheapskate to get a gym membership. Walking. I am good at that. I found a circuit in my neighborhood that is just over 2 miles. I walk a 12 minute mile and I can complete the circuit in 30 minutes. I like the 30 minute figure. So Monday's I walk. I'll do the same on Wed. or Thur. and again on Saturday. On the off days, I'm going to do 15 minutes of sit-up/push-ups - as many as I can do in that period of time. Call it retrofitness, I just like doing pushups for some reason - I think it is because in gym class I did over a hundred during our fitness week, which out did the jocks in my class by about 30. (Okay, they really didn't give a flying fig and quit as soon as they reached the A level...I kept going). I found the website fitday.com which allows me to track my exercise and calories. I found an oddity. Technically, with my BMR, I should have at least 1996 calories a day if I didn't do anything but sit. After putting in what I've eaten for two days, I see I am barely getting 2100 calories, which could be a reason why I gorge myself on the weekends. So as odd as it may sound, I've got to eat more in order to lose weight. Of course more doesn't mean more ice cream, but more nutrient rich foods. My goal is to reach 165 pounds by July 1 (and to eventually be able to run a complete mile without my heart exploding).
